SUPERB ARTISTS & EVENTS, LLC was created in 1992 when I was asked to coordinate a variety of music for an important City of Miami event she was managing. She knew my "thing" was jazz and world music, and she had confidence in my choices and in my management style. That night, with the support of my dear friend and colleague, Alexandra Saludes (The Sight on Site Group) I hit my first home run! We had a straight ahead Jazz combo including Silvano Monasterios, Jonathan Joseph and James Kidwell; Tropical Jazz with Steelpan virtuoso Othello Molineaux, and Latin Jazz with Pepe Aparicio, Archie Pena and Abel Pabon! I was very proud.
I quickly began to develop a wonderful database of artists, vendors and event professionals, many of whom I continue to work with over 20 years later. I grew into festival and community events as a talent coordinator/manager and production assistant, and soon began developing skills from A-Z - talent scouting, negotiations and contracts, vendors, stage and sound needs, decor, promotions etc. I was fortunate to become involved with festivals and city events in my hometown of Hollywood, FL and continue that great relationship. And I've managed the fantastic Cuban Jazz & Blues band ORIENTE since 1998!
Aside from Eddy Balzola & Oriente, a band that has featured many of So Fla's very best musicians including Pepe Aparicio, Yoel Del Sol, Stuart King, William Paredes and Orlando Machado... some of the brilliant talents I've worked with include: Violin maestro Federico Britos with harpist Roberto Perera plus Jorge Alfano, Rafael Solano and Silvano Monasterios, opening for Tony Bennett!, The Melton Mustafa Orchestra, Jesse Jones Jr., Bobby Thomas Jr., Mandrill, Doctor John, Allen Toussaint, Poncho Sanchez, Jon Cleary, Mavis Staples, Kermit Ruffins, Marcia Ball, Shemekia Copeland, “Sunpie” Barnes, Toots & The Maytals, Reggae Ambassadors with Willie Stewart, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Aaron Neville, David Shelley, George Porter Jr., Brian Stoltz, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Trombone Shorty, Bonerama, The Pastorius Brothers and many more!
